Retro Swirls Card By Jen

Hi everyone!  This is Jen Timko with today’s inspiration from Erin Lee Creative.  You know that a-ha moment that happens sometimes when you see something in a product that is a little different than what was probably intended? Today’s project is the result of just that!

The new Retro Swirls stamp set from the Peace, Love and Happiness Kit has that cool 70’s vibe that others have shown you.  Well, my oldest son took one look at it and told me it looked like a tree.  Um, yes it does!  So I used it to create a tree and I love it!  I stamped the image onto watercolor paper using Versamark Ink and then heat embossed with white embossing powder.  Using Distress Inks, I started applying layers of color with greens and yellows.  Once I knew it was going to work, I added the brown for the trunk.

For a sentiment, I thought the “hello” from the Big Hello Stamp Set was the perfect scale for the tree. I cut it from the same watercolor paper and used the yellow inks (with a touch of green) to color it.  When I originally stamped the image, I used a large piece of paper with the intent of cutting it down to a normal A2 size.  After it was all colored, I just couldn’t do it.  So this card is about 5-½” x 6”.  At this size, I plan to just include it in a package or in person gift.  But these are always nice to have on hand too.

I hope you enjoy this fun twist on a great stamp set.  Thanks so much for stopping in today.  See you soon!
