Gold Glitter Aztec Diamond Stencil Card by Eva
Hello Creative Friends! It’s Eva here with today’s blog post here at Erin Lee Creative. Today, I will be sharing 2 cards that I made using recently released stencils from Erin Lee Creative.
The first card I am sharing features an alcohol ink background of blues, greens and gold.I use a lot of glossy cardstock when doing alcohol ink background for cards. It is more economical, easy to find (Erin has some pearl, black and of course, holographic card stock which all will work well with the alcohol inks) and great for die cutting. The ink does not move as fluidly as what it does on yuppo, but I think it is a fantastic alternative for card making.
Over the alcohol ink background, I added gold glitter paste using the Aztec Diamonds Stencil. Once dried, I layered my stenciled piece onto a white cardstock panel and then onto a blue card. I stamped the sentiment on to the blue strip of cardstock and heat embossed with a glitter gold embossing powder.
The second card that I have for you today features the Pine Layering Stencil used with acrylic paint. For this one I did start with a heavy piece of acrylic paint paper. I first painted the entire panel with a dark blue acrylic paint and let it dry.
Once the blue dried, I placed the full tree stencil over the painted blue panel and painted the tree image with whote acrylic paint. Be careful to pull your paint from the sides to the center so you do your best to avoid paint seeping under the stencil. The great news is that acrylic paint is so easy to work with. Let it dry and paint over any mishaps. I applied 2-3 coats of white paint to ensure the solid white tree.
I decided I wanted an artsy tree, so I took my fan paint brush and applied different colors of acrylic paint on my tree, layering until I was happy with the results. Once done, I pulled the stencil off and let everything dry. Then I did blue touch ups where paint may have crept under the stencil while working.
I added gold confetti to the tree for some bling and placed a sentiment from the Winter Florals Stamp Set that was stamped and heat embossed on a piece of vellum around the mid-section of the card.
